Hello there! I'm Maggie. I live in Northern Virginia, which is just a smidge outside of Washington, DC for those of you not from 'round these parts.
With my sister Annie, I started this blog back in 2009 to share recipes and connect with fellow food-lovers. Annie has since departed the blog to work on her master's degree and focus on teaching.
I rarely cooked or baked until 2006, when I lived on my own for the first time. I started out baking cookies and brownies for coworkers, and then got into cooking when I discovered The Pioneer Woman's step-by-step tutorials. I quickly realized that I had a passion for food, and did what any rational person would do - subscribed to Cooks Illustrated and roughly 100 food blogs, and learned as much as I could through trial, and lots and lots of error.
I love cooking breakfast, baking cupcakes, and making giant hunks of meat in fancy pots. As an ex-vegetarian, those are words I never thought I'd type. I cook to a really dorky playlist containing mostly Broadway showtunes and country.
When I'm not in the kitchen, I enjoy reading, happy-houring, photography, trying new restaurants, and wasting time on the internet watching stuff like this, this, and this. Cheap wine, guacamole, and funny people make me happy.
If you want to know more, check out my FAQ! Thanks for reading - this site would not exist without awesome readers like you!

You're not the only one who cooks to Broadway show tunes... ;-)

Just stumbled here via We Are Not Martha...SO GLAD I did! Great looking food.
ReplyDeleteAlso--thanks! Now watching all the episodes of Very Mary Kate. Was already devoted to MDK and Jenna Marbles. This is definitely in line with my idiotic internet humor.
Best of luck, I'll be back!
Thanks so much Allie! Glad to hear we have the same bizarre sense of humor :)
DeleteMy son is in the Navy. When we Skyped last night I showed him a picture of the Reese's cookies and said I was going to bake them today and send most of them to him. He is so excited...lol
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! Hope he enjoys them. Tell him thank you for his service from A Bitchin' Kitchen :)
